Ricci first gained recognition as a child actor for her roles in the roles of Wednesday Addams and Addams Family Values (both 1993) in The Addams Family and as Kat Harvey, in Casper. Ricci transitioned into adult roles as a character in The Ice Storm (1997) which was followed by her highly praised performance of the role in The Opposite of Sex (2000) for which she was nominated for an award called a Golden Globe for Best Actress.
